As you know, Eli Beer has been fighting for his life since being diagnosed with Coivd-19 last month. The recent news that he is off the ventilator after 21 days and virus-free has been a bright turn in his terrifying journey. While Eli remains in the hospital, UH continues to receive 1,800 calls a day. The work of the 6,000 volunteers in Israel continues to expand. In addition to medical calls, volunteers are rendering humanitarian aid from helping the elderly fill prescriptions to assisting in nursing homes that are under-staffed due to the presence of Covid-19.
The vital work of UH must continue during Eli’s convalescence. While he was actively in the process of institutionalizing fundraising, he still brings in 45-50% of all donations. Currently, UH only has a cash reserve of 2 ½ months, in large part thanks to the $1.8 million leadership donation of Mark Gerson, the Chairman of the Board.
While I REALLY do not want to actively fundraise anymore, I feel a tremendous commitment to help Eli Beer and UH through this difficult time. In order to help UH continue to deliver critical medical care, I am creating an online fundraiser and making a seed donation of $50,000. I hope you will join me in making a significant gift and sharing this call to action with others. I know this is a difficult time for everyone and hope you are taking care.
