As soon as the first group of the United Hatzalah delegation progressed towards the border, they were able to assess the real needs on the ground.
They quickly got to work setting up triage medical centers and supply storage units to prepare for what would come next.
More than 150,000 refugees have crossed the Moldovan border so far. The majority of them were women and children. The young husbands were held back to fight and the elderly, who were stopped in their tracks, were Holocaust survivors who had already been through horrific tragedies.
Can you imagine?
The need has been alarming. We immediately shifted into gear at United Hatzalah headquarters in Jerusalem. To date:
-
125 medics and Psychotrauma professionals are on the ground in field hospitals
-
14 flights have brought 1,500+ refugees to Israel
-
50+ tons of clothing, food, hygiene products have been delivered
-
25,000+ refugees have been provided with medical care and humanitarian aid in Moldova
-
40,000+ total meals have been served to refugees
And we are pioneering this effort with Operation Orange Wings.
