Responsibilities:

  • Generating News Coverage
    • Build relationships with national and local media outlets and reporters to place UH in the news more frequently.
    • Generate stories/interviews/media exposure that highlight the lifesaving work of the organization.
    • Focus on substantive coverage, as well as coverage around events, and crises where UH is responding (e.g. Meron tragedy, response to rocket attacks and other conflict situations within Israel, Surfside Miami mission).
    • Have a clear project plan in conjunction with the Israel team as to what is our PR focus on a monthly basis as well as a social media strategy and content calendar.
    • Build a roadmap for success on different issues targeting media that makes the most sense and impact our awareness.
    • Build a template of outreach to media for all events.
      Coordinate with the Founder and Founding Chair on travel to ensure we maximize exposure as they visit various major cities.
    • Work in partnership with the Israel office reviewing the best feature stories of work to drive impressions.
    • Maintain an inventory of all media coverage on a weekly, monthly and annual basis to measure success.
  • Focus on Thought Leadership
    • Identify opportunities to generate thought leadership on Israel, EMS, philanthropy with organization leadership.
  • Promote Topic Specific Angles of UH Operations
    • Build awareness and coverage for the many different aspects of UH – lifesaving, bridging divides in Israel between communities, Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit, Ten Kavod program, and others.

Qualifications:

United Hatzalah is the largest independent, non-profit, fully-volunteer emergency medical services organization that provides first response care in Israel  within minutes of the initial call of distress.

Friends of United Hatzalah, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which supports the work of United Hatzalah of Israel, is currently seeking an Accounting Manager. This  full-time position based in our New York City  headquarters (hybrid work schedule) will include direct involvement in the various  areas of accounting operations and will also be  responsible for oversight of  the organization’s day-to-day accounting operations  and monthly close process.  The Accounting Manager will work closely with other  Finance Department personnel and serve as a Finance liaison with team  members across various departments.

The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will eventually supervise 1-2 direct reports.

Principal duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions including banking operations, cash management, procurement, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger accounting
  • Maintain procedures for full-cycle Accounts Payable, ensuring accurate and timely processing, and providing oversight and support to Finance staff to effectively manage the AP process
  • Oversee the corporate credit card program and employee expense reimbursements
  • Perform all functions of month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals, ensuring adherence to deadlines
  • Partner with other Finance personnel and third-party vendors to administer payroll and benefits
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies and industry-specific rules and regulations
  • Provide input on and lead implementation of new systems to introduce efficiencies and streamline processes
  • Develop/analyze internal financial reports, including budget vs. actual analysis, balance sheet analysis, cash flow projections and financial statements
  • Oversee annual preparation, distribution and filing of Form 1099 and other reporting requirements as needed

  • Thorough technical accounting knowledge with a strong understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Oversee changes to all design and production pieces, ensuring that images are accurate and that copy edits are made properly so that correct content and branding is maintained
  • Ensure final creative-related deliverables are completed on schedule

Social Media

  • Create, publish, and monitor compelling content across various social media platforms for United Hatzalah events and initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of the social media strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Monitor the latest trends and changes across platforms, implement best practices, and advise how best to adjust our strategy

The Accounting and Compliance Specialist will exercise a high level of accountability and will partner with global functional teams to ensure adherence to governmental rules and regulations, internal policies and procedures and industry standards, and maintaining financial records in an effective, accurate and timely manner. Principal duties and responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and maintain financial activity within Israel for Canada and other international branches, including detailed data entry to ensure clear documentation of all transactions
  • Actively partner with Israeli finance department on programmatic needs for United Hatzalah programs managed by international branches including Canada
  • Manage international banking operations in Israel by accounting for all transactions and conducting relevant account reconciliations

  • Review all invoices and payments for appropriate documentation and approvals
