Every day, and especially since October 7, United Hatzalah volunteers face harrowing events, experiencing trauma that can result in profound mental health impacts.
Healing Heroes, a program of our Psychotrauma Unit, aims to provide effective treatment to our volunteers at a time when it’s needed most. Through innovative VR-enabled mental health programs, including self-guided and remote 1:1 clinical care, we’re offering the tools they need to treat trauma and mitigate the onset of Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Working directly with mental health specialists through the Psychotrauma Unit, United Hatzalah volunteers can use specially-equipped Virtual Reality goggles to enhance and scale their treatment – anywhere, any time.
Trained therapists use VR goggles to provide proven therapies like Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic therapies.
By helping us provide VR headsets across the country to our volunteer houses, you’re not only supporting our volunteers in their journey to healing, but you’re also investing in the well-being of our entire community.

About United Hatzalah of Israel
United Hatzalah of Israel is the largest independent, non-profit, fully volunteer Emergency Medical Service organization that provides the fastest and free emergency medical first response throughout Israel. United Hatzalah’s service is available to all people regardless of race, religion, or national origin. United Hatzalah has more than 8,000 volunteers around the country, available around the clock – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. With the help of our unique GPS technology and our iconic ambucycles, our average response time is less than 3 minutes across the country and 90 seconds in metropolitan areas.
