Israel is currently in a national lockdown. Our network of volunteers must continue to be equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other essential medical supplies to ensure their safety and ability to respond to life-threatening emergencies. It is also crucial that we have the funds for other necessary response to the pandemic, such as ambulance transports for corona victims and corona testing sites.

The incremental costs to United Hatzalah of responding to this crisis is approximately $20,000 per day.

Our Mission: Saving Lives Now More than Ever

Israel is currently in a national lockdown. Our national network of volunteers must continue to be equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other essential medical supplies such as oxygen, to ensure their safety and ability to respond to life-threatening emergencies.

Our community of 6,000+ highly trained volunteer medics continues to play a key role across Israel, at no charge. But this is only possible with your support.

Our COVID-19 response fund which started in April has already provided 20,000 PPEs, thousands of free ambulance transports and 65,000 humanitarian response calls — and it’s all thanks to the generous giving provided by our international supporters. AMBULANCE TRANSPORTS
The Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defense and the Home Front Command have appointed United Hatzalah to to transport COVID-19 hospital patients from overflowing COVID-19 wards to hospitals with more capacity to treat them. To date, United Hatzalah has conducted over 70% of all COVID-19 transports in the country.

 

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Out of the 1,800 calls a day that come into our dispatch center, 10-15% of the calls are potential COVID-19 cases. For every one of those calls, the volunteer needs a PPE kit (personal protective equipment kit) that is onetime-use It is also crucial to restock and sterilize ambulances properly after every transport to ensure the safety of our volunteers.

 

 

TESTING SITES
United Hatzalah is conducting COVID-19 testing for major health maintenance organizations as well as testing for several hospitals, all at their requests. We have volunteers that go to people’s houses to conduct tests and we also have drive-through testing sites set up.

Founded in 2006, United Hatzalah has grown to become the largest independent, non-profit, nationally recognized and fully-volunteer emergency medical services (EMS) organization in Israel, responding to over 2,000 emergency calls a day. United Hatzalah's 6,500 medics, paramedics, and doctors create a web of emergency first responders, each connected to a GPS-based dispatch system which, together with our innovative transportation solutions, provides lifesaving aid faster than any other EMS organization in the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

United Hatzalah has democratized access to emergency medical services by providing its services free of charge and has improved victim outcomes by getting first responders to the scene of an emergency three times faster than an ambulance. Our volunteers, spotted at every medical emergency, have been dubbed 'Angels in Orange' after their trademark orange vests.
