defibrillator

United Hatzalah has basic and advanced life support defibrillators for EMTs, Paramedics and doctors. United Hatzalah’s internal logistics and resource coordinator maintains a rigorous maintenance program for all of the devices used by the volunteer medics of United Hatzalah. If a device is down for servicing, a replacement is on standby, ensuring that our medics continuously have lifesaving devices available when needed.

To adequately equip volunteers with these critical lifesaving devices, United Hatzalah needs an additional 1000 lifesaving defibrillators. This would result in a ratio of 9 out of every 10 volunteers in possession of a defibrillator.

The most common cause of Sudden Cardiac Arrest is Ventricular Fibrillation. Survival rates after VF cardiac arrest decrease approximately 7% to 10% with every minute that defibrillation is delayed. Factors contributing to SCA include Coronary Heart Disease, electrocution drowning, choking, trauma, and illegal drugs.
