As I was thinking about which tzedakah to support for my Bar Mitzvah, my mom threw out a number of options. But the one that I connected with most was United Hatzalah. I really like this because my family and I are very connected to Israel. We are all strong and passionate Zionists – my parents even named me Eitan Tzion!
United Hatzalah volunteers in Israel provide lifesaving medical care on the scene of emergencies prior to the arrival of an ambulance. United Hatzalah medics arrive on average, within 2-4 minutes of the call for help.
The volunteer medics treat and stabilize the patient and then cooperate with the arriving ambulance crew, which typically arrives 8-10 minutes after the initial call for help. In outlying areas, the wait for an ambulance can be significantly longer.
My tzedakah will go towards adopting a volunteer medic – these funds will sponsor one volunteer's equipment, supplies and expenses for one year. I can’t wait to personally connect with my volunteer and hear about the amazing help he is providing people in need! By supporting this organization I know I will be helping the people of Israel.
As my first mitzvah upon becoming a Bar Mitzvah, I will be using some of my personal money to sponsor one volunteer's equipment, supplies and expenses for one year. If you would like to join me, please donate by clicking the “MAKE A DONATION” button below.
The organization is a 501-c so you will receive a tax receipt for your records. If you prefer to write a check, make it out to USA (Batya) Friends of United Hatzalah at 208 East 51st Street, Suite 303, NY, NY 10022 and note that it is in honor of my Bar Mitzvah.
Thank you!
Love, Eitan
