Westport Connecticut was the location of a walking marathon, not measured by the participants’ speed but by their selflessness. David and Lauren Sussman, Tristate Committee members, organized the Steps 4 Life Race a 26.2 Mile walk around Westport aimed at raising money and awareness for United Hatzalah’s life-saving work.
The Sussmans love to walk and realized they could put that hobby to good use and inspire others to save lives. The race had a starting group but was joined intermittently by family members, friends, and supporters. Amongst the group was Jake Sussman, son of David and Lauren, a United Hatzalah Young Leadership Board Member who was recently honored at the UH New York Gala, and Daughter, Sydney Sussman, who surprised herself, when she walked all 26.2 miles along her parents sides.
The Sussman family visited the Jerusalem headquarters of United Hatzalah years earlier, which inspired them to devote themselves to the organization.
In total, the Sussman family, with their friends, were able to raise over $60K! This includes an allotment for a new Advanced Ambucycle.
