High school seniors all over the world are facing the crushing disappointment of finishing their high school years in a way that none of them could've imagined. For the seniors of Hadar High School in Boca Raton there's an extra layer of hurt. They are the first class of Hadar, the girls who built the school, who mentored the grades below them and who have, along with an exceptional faculty and administration created the incredible school Hadar is today. When they realized that they would be losing out on the final months of what should've been the best year of their lives, they wanted to turn that experience from one of negativity and sadness to giving back and creating good in a world that most definitely needs it.
On their Senior trip to Israel this past November they were introduced to United Hatzalah. United Hatzalah of Israel is the largest independent, non-profit, fully volunteer Emergency Medical Service organization that provides the fastest and free emergency medical first response throughout Israel, and is available to all people regardless of race, religion, or national origin. The message and mission of this incredible organization had a lasting impact on the girls and they knew that this was where they wanted to give back.
They wanted to raise money but also wanted to do it in way that combined their love of Israel, and their creativity. They decided to paint their own version of the iconic Ahava sculpture that stands in the garden at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem in one epic and fun all-nighter zoom event filled with tons of smiles, laughter, and encouragement. The paintings came out beautiful and incredible, but the feeling of creating something for good and actually being able to do something to give back the girls so much needed happiness and strength.
There are no words to express the pain and hurt that everyone has experienced these past few months. While we have no control on the outcome, and we can't change it, we do have control over our actions and what we do to channel the pain. We are so incredibly proud of our girls and what they've accomplished, and what they stand for. We should all see better, easier and healthier times very soon.
