United Hatzalah is the largest independent, non-profit, fully-volunteer emergency medical services organization that provides first response care in Israel within minutes of the initial call of distress.
All of United Hatzalah’s volunteers are trained and certified as EMTs, paramedics or doctors. Through their LifeCompass Command Center, United Hatzalah uses a unique GPS dispatch technology to identify the closest and most qualified volunteers to a call, maximizing efficient allocation of resources and minimizing response times. Given their proximity, volunteers are able to arrive on scene within 2 to 3 minutes. Hatzalah provides its services free of charge.
In addition to the proprietary GPS deployment, the key to United Hatzalah’s success in saving lives is its medically equipped “ambucycles” – which are able to travel nimbly through traffic, narrow alleys and obstructed roadways to bring almost all the necessary medical equipment an ambulance carries to the scene. By using a location-based volunteer network and ambucycles, United Hatzalah guarantees that medical care can begin prior to the arrival of a traditional transport ambulance that may be delayed due to distance or traffic.
