At 6:20am on Shabbat the 7th of October, Hamas terrorists crossed the border with Israel, infiltrating 25 towns – resulting in so far more than 1,300 killed, over 200 hostages, and thousands injured. United Hatzalah initial response was nothing short of heroic saving hundreds of lives under fire and treating several hundred more injured. United Hatzalah now has mobilized all 7,000 of its volunteers and dispatched over 350 rescue vehicles to Israel's southern and northern regions. Inside the communities, our volunteers are responding to calls in their own neighborhoods, ensuring IDF personnel and civilians receive the emergency medical treatment they need. Our medics have now treated more than 3,500 soldiers, adults, and children through the initial massacre and injuries due to incoming rockets, in additional to the 2000 daily medical emergencies our volunteers continue to respond to as they do all year. Psycho-trauma units have also treated now over 1500 victims from this war, including our own volunteers who had to experience the horrors of the initial massacre. Overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of civilians and soldiers needing emergency medical treatment, we emptied our warehouses, depleting 1,600 medic bags, distributed 45 tons of medical and humanitarian supplies. Now, in coordination with the IDF and Home Front Command, we are preparing for an extended multi-front war. Our top priority is replenishing the spent supplies and equipping our brave, dedicated volunteers on the front lines, many of whom have left their homes around the country to protect the health and safety of Israel’s civilians in the south and now in the north.
