Our Goal: 3,000 New Defibrillators

The Need:

We're now the world's fastest EMS group and to service Israel's growing population, we're expanding as well. We now respond to over 1,000 emergency calls a day and our volunteer medic corp is 5,000 strong with almost 1,000 more planned to finish training next year. Our goal is a 90 second response anywhere in Israel so we need to be sure that our team is properly equipped, at all times, to address those suffering from a cardiac related incident. This means we must retire and replenish older, well-used, but worn, devices and distribute newer units across the country to ensure this lifesaving device is brought on-scene wherever there is a need.

The Result:

President and Founder Eli Beer launched this campaign because "Defibrillators are not an optional piece of equipment, they are an essential necessary component of our medics "lifesaving tool box." And, as we know that when a defibrillator has saved a life, we've not only helped that individual but we have kept their family and community intact. This is what keeps me and all our medics going, knowing that with your support we can save more lives and never have to charge for our services.

Eli also shared "that when you partner with us in lifesaving and support this campaign, you'll receive periodic email updates on the good work of our medics and these devices." And, who doesn't like knowing the impact of their giving!

On behalf of all whose lives will be saved, their friends, their families, their communities, today raba, thank you for making your gift today!

In the last three months, United Hatzalah responded to over 500 calls where the medic needed a defibrillator and didn't have one.

An amazing family who are incredibly committed to saving lives and has been very invested in United Hatzalah of Israel for many years, have generously stepped up to match all donations in this campaign. Through personal experience, they recognize the importance of every volunteer having a defibrillator so that no one ever dies of a cardiac arrest unnecessarily.

We're Fast. We're Free. Our Uber model combines innovation, technology, and a huge helping of tzedakah to save more lives.

Founded in 2006, United Hatzalah has grown to become the largest independent, non-profit, nationally recognized and fully-volunteer emergency medical service (EMS) organization in Israel, responding to over 1,000 emergency calls per day. United Hatzalah is made up of 5,000 volunteers; ranging from medics to paramedics, and doctors alike, creating a web of first responders, connected by a GPS-based dispatch system. Together with our innovative transportation solutions, this GPS technology provides lifesaving aid faster than any other EMS organization in the world… 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

United Hatzalah has transformed emergency medical response by providing free services to the communities of Israel and arriving at emergencies with an average response time of 3 minutes! United Hatzalah has set a goal to grow to 8,000 volunteer responders in Israel by 2020 and further reduce the average response time to just 90 seconds nationwide. The volunteers have been dubbed 'Angels in Orange' after their trademark orange vests.
