I will be running my very first marathon in Copenhagen on May 15th this year to raise funds for United Hatzalah, which has launched a special mission to help Ukrainians called Operation Orange Wings. The operation has resulted in hundreds of medics and volunteers mobilizing in Israel and on the ground to help: They've received over 20,000 refugees, served tens of thousands of hot meals, airlifted over 1,000 women, children and elderly persons to Israel, to safety, and are providing advanced medical aid to all those in need. This is a time of urgent need and I hope you'll join me in meeting the moment. Any amount you give brings us closer to our goal and will help save more lives!
United Hatzalah's mission spoke to my heart as my grandfather was a Ukrainian Jewish orphan that lost his parents to a forced Russian famine (known as Holodomor) in the 1930s. He was then taken to Israel, where he spent many years before settling in the tropics in Colombia.
So.... why Copenhagen? I am 1/4th Danish and am very connected to that part of my heritage. I spent many sunny summers in Denmark, studying Danish, getting to know my family there, and falling in love with the place. But also, who doesn't love a good Danish?
Thank you in advance for reading and considering supporting this cause. And a special thanks to all those who have encouraged me in this journey, you know who you are.
Finally, if you find yourself in Copenhagen on May 15th, I'd love to see you cheering me on (I'll need it)!
