United Hatzalah Medics Evacuating a Patient

Become a Volunteer

Support a volunteer!

United Hatzalah’s strength is in our network of 8,600 selfless volunteers, including EMTs, paramedics and doctors.

United Hatzalah volunteers are trained responders who provide emergency medical care in their communities. They are not waiting in stations, they are living their daily lives, ready to respond when an alert comes in. When an emergency is reported, the closest available volunteers are notified and begin making their way to the scene immediately.

The role of a volunteer responder

Volunteer responders are trained to:

  • Assess emergency situations
  • Provide immediate medical care
  • Stabilize patients
  • Support until additional medical teams arrive

United Hatzalah volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds. What they share is a willingness to help, the ability to commit to training, and readiness to respond when needed. Volunteer enrollment is for applicants 21 years old and above with access to a personal vehicle.
