Bar Kuperstein has bravely taken the next step on his long journey towards recovery. Yesterday, escorted by a fleet of United Hatzalah emergency vehicles including an Ambucar that was dedicated by the Eidelman Family Foundation in Bar’s honor while he was still being held hostage in Gaza, Bar finally made it home to Holon. After nearly one month in Sheba Medical Center, Bar is surrounded by the people who love him.
Over this past Sukkot holiday, the world witnessed the emotional reunion of the Kuperstein family as they hugged Bar following his release from the dungeons of Gaza. His liberation, along with that of all the remaining living hostages, was an outright miracle, and a testament to the Jewish people’s determination, unity, and an unbreakable spirit that has guided us over these past two years of tragedy and war.
Six years ago, Bar’s father, Tal Kuperstein, a dedicated United Hatzalah volunteer, was severely injured while rushing to save the life of a young girl in distress. During that selfless act, Tal sustained critical injuries, which left him paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Since then, the Kuperstein family; Tal, his wife, Julie and their children, have faced unimaginable challenges.
To make matters even worse, Bar had taken on a lot of responsibilities after his father’s accident by helping support his family financially.
United Hatzalah, both its volunteers and leadership, have stood by the Kuperstein family throughout the years, fulfilling the organization’s promise to its volunteers; ‘you are not alone!’. Countless volunteers have helped maintain the family business. Tal continues to require ongoing medical care and daily assistance, and the family has been surrounded by those who support them with strength and endless love.
Now that Bar is home, the entire Kuperstein family needs our collective support to recover and thrive.
Our Moment to Stand United In Life
This is not just the Kuperstein family’s story, it’s the Jewish people’s shared responsibility to help one another.
This is at the heart of United Hatzalah’s mission. We believe in saving lives and standing by those who dedicate their lives to saving others.
United Hatzalah has launched a special campaign to help the Kuperstein family rebuild their lives.
The Torah teaches: “Rather, you shall open your hand to him, and you shall lend him sufficient for his needs, which he is lacking.”
— Deuteronomy 15:8

Every contribution, whether large or small, will help bring this brave family one step closer to healing. Together, we can transform their pain into strength, their struggle into renewal, and their faith into our national pride.
