At 6:20am on Shabbat the 7th of October Hamas terrorists crossed the border with Israel, infiltrating 25towns resulting in so far more than 9 0 0 killed, tens of hostages and thousands injured , including women, children, babies, and elderly citizens At the same time, thousands of rockets were launched into Israel, reaching Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. A state of war has been declared by Israel's Defense Minister. United Hatzalah has mobilized all 7,000 of its volunteers and dispatched over 120 rescue vehicles to Israel's southern region. Inside the communities, our heroic volunteers are responding to calls in their own neighborhoods, ensuring IDF personnel and civi lians receive the emergency medical treatment they need, often under heavy gunfire, at risk to their own lives. Working hand in hand with the IDF, our backup medic teams from around the country have established and are operating large staging areas outside of occupied communities, treating the injured as they are rescued from the fighting zones and transporting them to hospitals via our ambulances and helicopters. The situation is tragic. As of this morning, our medics have treated 1,000 soldiers, adults, and children. United Hatzalah's logistic vehicles bringing supplies to the war zone are returning with lifeless bodies. Our medics are treating babies found lying next to their slain parents. We are responding swiftly to the emerging crises and must ensure EMS disaster readiness across Israel. We are supplying Israel's military with medical equipment and protective gear and have depleted our own emergency resources and reserves. Our highest priority is to source millions of dollars' worth of urgent medical supplies, protective gear, and communication equipment , and increase our dispatch and logistic capabilities. Your help is needed now to protect Israel's people at their darkest hour. In this state of catastrophic emergency unlike anything Israel has experienced since the Yom Kippur War exactly 50 years ago Israel needs your urgent support. Our brave volunteer medics have left their spouses, children, parents, siblings and more, to serve on the front line and protect the lives of Israel’s citizens during this turbulent time. We must ensure they are equipped with vital medical equipment and protective gear, dispatch capabilities, and more, to enable them to save lives as the war persists. We anticipate needing to raise 20 3 00,000 over the next four weeks to purchase vital supplies including defibrillators, protective gear , trauma kits, tourniquets, humanitarian a id and more.
