GILA’S STORY AND A WAY TO HELP
Gila *, age 19, and 24 fellow female soldiers were based along the Gaza/Israeli border, vigilantly protected the homeland. She knew by sight t every farmer, Gazan worker, and Be’eri kibbutznik who happened across her computer screen.
Everything changed on October 7th
As dawn broke, Hamas terrorists shouting “Allahu Akbar” infiltrated Kibbutz Be’eri and Gila’s base and launched a brutal, deadly attack.
For more than ten hours Gila lay amidst the carnage, hoping to be found. Finally, she heard people speaking Hebrew. Traumatized and fearful she kept still until she felt assured the rescuers were fellow Israelis, not terrorists returning to finish the slaughter
When the rampage stopped, 20 of Gila’s fellow soldiers and more than 100 civilians were kidnapped or dead.
Today, Gila is home and safe among her loving family-her parents, grandparents and two brothers. However, her suffering continues. Haunted by nightmares , and suffering depression and fear, she’s receiving psychiatric help and healing slowly.
Undeterred, Gila wishes to complete her military duty and hopes to attend Teacher Seminar in Tel Aviv to become a school teacher.
Safe at home in New York, Toby*, Gila’s grand aunt and fourth generation sabra, and her friend Marlene sadly watched the news unfold. “We felt heartbroken and helpless for Israel and its people” they said.
Thankful for Gila’s survival, they turned gratitude into action and decided to raise funds for United Hatzalah.

Why choose United Hatzalah?

“Knowing that 1500 Hatzalah volunteer first responders dropped everything on October 7th, rushing into active combat zones, to give life-saving medical aid, sealed the deal. We and our friends can help save lives”, said Toby and Marlene.
Our goal is to raise at $16,600 to purchase lifesaving equipment for Hatzalah’s first responders. That include three complete medical kits (3 @ $5000) and two sets of bullet proof vests and helmets (2@$800)
