*תרגום לעברית בסוף הטקסט* 01.06.2004, our family vacation in Israel is nearly coming to an end. A particularly enjoyable vacation at a hotel by the seaside in Herzliya. Until that afternoon, when my dad and my brother entered the sea and got caught in a current. We were tourists, unaware of the strike of lifeguards. Two heroic surfers, who were kids themselves, Daniel Shachori and Roy Shachori, rescued both of them from the water. My brother was in good condition, and my dad was in a critical state. My mother, who was the only one who knew basic CPR, performed it until rescue forces arrived after 30 minutes (too long). There was no defibrillator, and the beachgoers were shocked by the situation. My dad was brought to Meir Hospital and passed away after 24 hours in the intensive care unit. I didn't know if I would want to visit the country ever again, ever approach the sea again or that hospital. But life led me to move to the country at the age of 17, give birth to my two daughters at Meir Hospital, love the sea, swim, and spend time on the beaches of Herzliya. With the hope that after finishing my studies soon, I will also become a certified nurse in that hospital. And why am I telling this story now? Today, we completed an Advanced Basic Life Support (ABLS) course, and one of the critical elements for the success of lifesaving, aside from effective cardiac massages, is the use of a defibrillator as quickly as possible. In memory of my father, Richard (Ricky) Goldberger z"l, whose highest value was to save and protect people, I want to continue his vision and acquire as many defibrillators as possible in his memory. To achieve that, I would appreciate your help through financial contribution (even a small one) to make my vision reality. "Anyone who saves a life is as if he saved an entire world". Michele Daliah Goldberger
