Even as war continues here in Israel, United Hatzalah is expressing deep solidarity with the Jewish community of West Bloomfield, Michigan following the attempted attack on Temple Israel synagogue earlier today.
United Hatzalah Founder and President Eli Beer said the organization is closely monitoring the situation and stands together with the Jewish community in Michigan during this difficult moment.
“We are extremely thankful that there have been no reported fatalities among congregants or individuals inside or outside the synagogue,” Beer said. “We at United Hatzalah stand together with the West Bloomfield Jewish community, with the broader North American Jewish community, and with all those who believe in the fundamental right of every person to gather in prayer and communal life without fear.”
In response to the incident, United Hatzalah is sharing a public service flyer offering guidance and practical recommendations to help communities address the emotional and psychological impact of violent incidents targeting houses of worship.
United Hatzalah operates Israel’s largest volunteer emergency medical response networks and has extensive experience responding not only to physical injuries but also to the psychological trauma that can follow acts of violence and terror. Through its Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit, trained volunteers provide emotional stabilization and psychological first aid to victims and communities coping with traumatic events.
The unit’s expertise has also been shared internationally. In December 2025, following a deadly attack during a Hanukkah gathering in Bondi Beach, Australia, United Hatzalah dispatched a delegation of psychologists, social workers, and medical professionals to assist the local Jewish community and support those affected by the tragedy.
“While we are grateful that this attack in Michigan did not result in the loss of life, incidents of this nature can leave a profound emotional impact on communities,” said Hadas Rucham, Clinical Director of United Hatzalah’s Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit. “Our message to the community of West Bloomfield is simple: you are not alone. Jewish communities around the world stand with you.”
