Celebrity Chef event garners 10 new life-saving ambucycles for United Hatzalah
New York, March 3rd – During a private event in honor of United Hatzalah, Leesa and Leon Wagner hosted a private dinner for 30 invited guests on Tuesday, among them was the Founder of United Hatzalah Eli Beer and the International Director of Operations for United Hatzalah Dov Maisel. During the event enough money was raised to purchase ten new, state-of-the-art ambucycles (ambulance-motorcycles).
The event included a special dinner by celebrity Chef Itzik Mizrachi Barak who is currently the Executive Chef of the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem. Mizrachi prepared the meal in support of the life-saving organization and the catering service was done flawlessly by Main Event – Mauzone Caterers. The various courses of the meal were paired with wine provided by Josh Schupak.
Born in Jerusalem, Executive Chef Barak has had an international culinary career that began by making the traditional foods he was accustomed to in his mother’s and grandmother’s kitchens. Barak is considered to be one of Israel’s most renowned chefs and has served as an Executive Chef in many of Israel’s leading hotels.
Most recently, Barak served as the Executive Chef at the David Citadel in Jerusalem. His creative talents brought him to some of the finest and most elite restaurants around the world including some of the more renowned eateries in the U.S., Hong Kong and Japan.
The dinner, took place in the home of the Wagners In New York, and succeeded in raising enough money to add an additional 10 ambucycles to United Hatzalah’s much needed Ambucycle Unit. The organization currently boasts some 3000 volunteer paramedics, doctors EMT and EMS professionals involved in daily life saving EMS activity across Israel. United Hatzalah brings together volunteers from all walks of life in Israel and includes Ultra-Orthodox, modern Orthodox, and Secular Jewish as well as Arab and Druze EMS professionals. The organization utilizes a volunteer based EMS Ambucycle Unit to arrive at the scene of medical emergencies in under three minutes, significantly cutting down ambulance and EMS response time and thereby saving lives.
