On Monday evening at around 10:00 p.m., a live grenade was thrown into the Ministry of Health building in Nazareth. The bomb set off a loud explosion that shook the surrounding area. Thankfully, there were no casualties or injuries.

 

 

Earlier that day, there was a community activity for the children in Nazareth. The police and fire departments and the United Hatzalah volunteer EMTs of Nazareth came to explain to the children what they do and to show them their equipment. 

 

Ashraf Ayub, United Hatzalah Chapter Head and one of the volunteers that attended the community event, said “I had a really great time with the kids. We explained to them what an ambulance is and we even brought them inside to see the stretcher and all the lifesaving equipment. Teaching the younger generation brings me joy because it reminds me who we are doing this for. I am a United Hatzalah volunteer EMT to help others and to make our world a better place for these children to grow up in.”

 

 

After a long and hard day of work at the community event, Ashraf went on an ambulance shift until 7:00 p.m. On his way back home, he stopped at the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Ashraf finally came home after a long day out, only to leave again soon after because he received the notification of the bombing attack in the Ministry of Health building. He hurriedly dressed and ran right back out of his house to help.

 

As soon as he arrived at the building he got straight to work, closing off the scene with police tape and helping the police scan the area for casualties. 

 

“I had a very long day,” said Ashraf Ayub after the incident, “But all in all, I am happy to do this and to be a part of this community. I do this for them and for their safety and wellbeing.
