A new emergency medical ambucycle has been donated in memory of Maj. (res.) Dr. Moshe Yedidya Leiter, a commander in the IDF’s elite Shaldag Unit, who fell in the line of duty in Gaza on November 10, 2023.

Dr. Leiter, 39, was pursuing his medical career and was about to begin a hospital internship when he was called up for reserve duty. He is survived by his wife and six children, including a newborn.

The ambucycle was donated in Dr. Leiter’s memory by the Fallic Family. The dedication ceremony, held last week at United Hatzalah’s headquarters in Jerusalem, was attended by Dr. Leiter’s parents, Dr. Yechiel and Chani Leiter, United Hatzalah CEO Professor Ehud Davidson, United Hatzalah V.P. of Operations Dovie Maisel, and Avi Marcus, a United Hatzalah paramedic who treated Dr. Leiter.

“We know that even though he’s no longer with us, he’s continuing to act,” said Dr. Yechiel and Chani Leiter at the ceremony. “This ambucycle is such a glaring example of how his spirit is continuing to save more lives and do good, making the world a better place in his memory.”

United Hatzalah President Professor Ehud Davidson said: “Our soldiers volunteer to protect Israel, just as our volunteers work to save lives. Dr. Leiter’s sacrifice exemplifies these highest values of service. This dedication in memory of your fallen son is the least we can do to honor his sacrifice and your family’s contribution to Israel. We share in your profound grief and hope for better days ahead for all of Israel.”

Dr. Yechiel Leiter is the incoming Israeli Ambassador to the United States.
