United Hatzalah was awarded the 2024 Health Minister’s Shield for Volunteering in a ceremony held yesterday (Tuesday) at the Knesset, in recognition of the organization’s role during the October 7th attacks, the Iron Swords War, and its ongoing contribution to public health in Israel.

The award was presented by Minister of Health MK Uriel Boso, who said:
“I am proud to present the Health Minister’s Shield to United Hatzalah – an organization that symbolizes dedication, professionalism, and continuous service in the effort to save lives. The volunteers show, day after day, what true commitment means, and their willingness to respond to emergencies at any hour is an inspiration to us all. The State of Israel is deeply grateful to you.”

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, Health Ministry Director-General Moshe Bar Siman Tov, and other senior officials and public figures attended the ceremony.

CEO Professor Ehud Davidson and Deputy CEO Eli Pollak, representing the organization’s more than 8,000 volunteers who provide emergency medical response throughout the country, from Metula to Eilat, accepted the award on behalf of United Hatzalah.

United Hatzalah President and Founder Eli Beer said:
“This recognition is a tremendous honor for me and for each one of our 8,000 volunteers, who devote themselves around the clock to saving lives. On October 7th and throughout the Iron Swords War, our volunteers demonstrated remarkable courage, dedication, and resourcefulness. This award emphasizes the importance of unity and mutual responsibility amongst the people of Israel, and highlights the strength our volunteers bring in times of crisis. I want to thank the Minister of Health and his team for the great trust and appreciation they have shown to our volunteers.”
